Hopewell - Completed with the assistance of producer
Max Lichtenstein (who's credits include recording/mix
projects with Mercury Rev, Lightning Seeds, Regular
Fries, Whip) The Curved Glass is said by Amercican label
paludits as 'a solid, headphone worthy rock record rife
with relentlessly memorable melodies' Ever present in the band's work are trademark HOPEWELL
elements: sing-along anthems, film score soundscapes
and subliminal "gets-under-yer-skin" wistfulness. THE CURVED GLASS features lead vocals by both Russo's
and drummer Dalia Garih. Jason's often acerbic self-consciousness,
Justin's nostalgic orchestral grandeur, Jason Merritt's
definitive basslines, and the powerfully melodic drumming
of Dalia, said by Priapus to be reminiscent of John
Bonham in crinoline. Jason Russo explains how the group overcame personal
conflict in the aftermath of Contact to complete and
release the record "We had no idea while we were making this thing, mostly
recorded after one of us spent 28 days in a state funded
hospital, but in post-production it became clear to
me that there was a theme. Almost like a rock opera.
It began to look like 'Godspell's and 'Jesus Christ
Superstar' which were played incessantly when Justin
and I were kids. I'm not going to say what that theme
is. It's different for everyone" " Because of our involvement in the Rev and lack
of budget, this second record took over three years
to make." Check out the Priapus catalgue > here
