There was a time when melancholy hirsute types were mocked for their underprivileged personal hygiene and their statutory talent in being able to name all hundred and five line-up changes to the progressive rock band, Yes. But all that changed with the arrival of Fleet Foxes and their 2008 self-titled debut.
Suddenly the Magic Numbers were not the only fringe hippies with a tasty tune in town.
On 2nd May 2011 Fleet Foxes will release second album ‘Helplessness Blues’on Bella Union records (Sub Pop in the US). The release of the twelve-track album will coincide with the band’s first North American tour dates since August 09 and will be followed by a string of UK and European tour dates. The tour will begin in Vancouver on 30th April and end in London.
‘Helplessness Blues’ was recorded over the course of a year at Avast Recording, Bear Creek Studios, Dreamland Studios, and Reciprocal Recording. The album was mixed by Phil Ek and co-produced by Fleet Foxes and Ek. The title track can be downloaded at the band’s website (included below).
