Whilst we can’t for the life of us understand why the dazzling, thrashing mouth-agape
talent that is Anna Calvi is playing second fiddle to the effortlessly
bland and pedestrian eye-shut, brain-dead talent that is Mumford & Sons,
she has nevertheless been invited to perform with said folksters at a special
NME Awards show Communion night at Dingwalls in London on 22nd February.
Other artists on the bill at this intimate show include Marcus Foster and Rachel
Sermanni. Communion is co-run by Mumford & Sons’ Ben Lovett.
But just in case your faith in music was all but destroyed by the announcement,
you’ll no doubt be pickled tink to learn that Anna Calvi has also been invited
along as special guest to label-mates Arctic Monkeys at a special
homecoming gig in Sheffield on 11th June alongside Miles Kane
and Mabel Love.
The artists will be playing in a custom designed tent at the Don Valley Bowl
and tickets go on general sale from 11th February through See Tickets, Ticketmaster
and Sheffield Motorpoint Arena.
